There are more stories and songs written about love than any other subject; this is probably because it is not only a powerful and life-changing force but the very essence of life. The dictionary defines love as a profoundly tender and deep affection for another person. However, the spiritual aspect of love goes beyond romantic love; it is a state of being; a higher vibrational existence that one radiates regardless of whether anything is offered in return.
The simple decision to be kind, forgiving, and compassionate to all in life, including to one’s own self, demonstrates this love. It is unconditional, selfless, and free from fear. It is what the Greeks referred to as ‘Agape’ or the operation of God’s love in the hearts of men.
We are all capable of unconditional love when we choose the path of kindness, forgiveness, and compassion. But before we can truly practice to love others unconditionally, we must first love ourselves unconditionally. This means to release and free ourselves from fears and doubts. And to re-value and re-define the truth of our being and align it with this divine unconditional love that resides within our hearts.
“Only when we give joyfully, without hesitation or thought of gain, can we truly know what love means.” Leo Buscaglia
